|Existing users ...
If you have an earlier version of mathStatica installed on your computer:
......... you MUST delete it first .........
See Step 1 below for instructions on how to find your mathStatica installation folder.
- You will NOT need (and cannot re-use) the old password file ... mathStatica 2.5 comes with a new password file.
You should have recently downloaded the file: version25.zip
After 'unzipping' (which should happen automatically), you will obtain a folder containing:
Step 1: Drag both ...
- mathStatica.m (file)
- mathStatica (folder/directory)
HardDrive / Library / Mathematica / Applications/
folder on your computer’s hard drive.
THIS LOCATION IS IMPORTANT.
Please read carefully.
Can I install anywhere else?
Yes. You can alternatively install into:
[ where colinr denotes your own account name ]
NB: Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and 10.8 (Mountain Lion)
In Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and 10.8 (Mountain Lion), Apple has made the User Library folder HIDDEN by default.
If you are upgrading from mathStatica 2.0, this is where your old copy of mathStatica is most likely located ... and you MUST remove it first!
To make your USER Library folder visible (if it is not already visible):
Step (i): Open the Terminal applicaton (located in HardDrive/Applications/Utilities).
Step (ii): Then run the command:
chflags nohidden ~/Library
The USER Library will then be visible again under OS X 10.7 and 10.8. You will then be able to remove your old copy of mathStatica 2.0.
Only install into 1 location (not both).
Step 2: Install your password file
A new password is needed for mathStatica 2.5. Your password file will arrive by email.
Drag your password file pass.txt into your mathStatica/Password folder.
