Installing mathStatica 1.5 GOLD - Windows

Before proceeding further ...
  • Please ensure that Mathematica 5 or later is installed on your computer (not included).

  • mathStatica 1.5 is self-contained: no other files are needed (except your password file)

 

Step 1: Unzip

You should have just downloaded a file called 'mathStaticaGold15.zip'.
[If you purchased the Solution Manual, the file name will be slightly longer.]

Double-click on it to unzip it.

WARNING: WinZip users
Use the 'Extract' option. Drag and Drop will NOT work.
Make sure the directory paths option is checked: "Use Folder Names"

 

Step 2: Move the 2 files:

  1. mathStatica.m      (file)
  2. mathStatica           (folder/directory)
into your:

Mathematica \ 5.x \ AddOns \ Applications \

folder on your computer's hard drive.
The usual full path is:

C:\Program Files\Wolfram Research\Mathematica\5.x\AddOns\Applications\

 

Step 3: Your GOLD Password

Locate your password file:
Existing GOLD users: If you are an existing GOLD user, then your existing "pass.txt" password file will continue to work perfectly under mathStatica 1.5. Please locate your "pass.txt" password file.
   
New GOLD users: If you have just upgraded to GOLD, then your new mathStatica GOLD password file, "pass.txt", has been sent to your email address as an attachment.
   

Install password file:
Move your "pass.txt" file into the mathStatica Password folder:

...\Mathematica\5.x\AddOns\Applications\mathStatica\Password\

as also shown on page 4 of the book.


Step 4: Rebuild Help Index

Run Mathematica, go to its HELP menu, and select: Rebuild Help Index, as shown here:



Step 5: Load mathStatica

To start up mathStatica, simply evaluate the following in Mathematica in a new notebook:

    <<mathStatica.m
